Smith Leads UAM Men’s Golf At Bear State Bank Invitational

MOUNTAIN HOME, Arkansas – University of Arkansas-Monticello’s junior men’s golfer Hunter Smith turned in his fourth top five finish of the season to lead the Weevils to a fifth place finish at Henderson State’s Bear State Bank Invitational played this past Monday and Tuesday at the Big Creek Country Club.

Smith carded scores of 74 and 73 to tie for fifth place out of 50 total participants. Junior Ari Magnusson followed in a tie for 20th place (76, 77), junior Theodor Karlsson tied for 23rd (77, 77), sophomore Bryan Witmer tied for 30th (77, 79) and sophomore Billie Trawick finished in 40th (83, 77).

tv Sports reflection 10dbAs a team, UAM combined for a two-round total of 608, just one stroke behind fourth place East Central and two strokes behind third place Southern Arkansas. The host, Henderson State, was the top team at 579, led by first and second place finishers Brice Howard (70, 72) and Mauricio Lira (74, 70).

The Weevils are back in action this Saturday in a dual against Southern Arkansas at the Pine Bluff Country Club.
