MONTICELLO- The University of Arkansas-Monticello’s Student Government Association held Casino Night Monday, March 15 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Slot machines and various casino games plastered the University Center Green Room. Upon entering the casino, attendees received $2500 in chips.

tv_News 10dbAfter playing until either the demise of their chips or the end of the event, students and staff “cashed in.” They received tickets in response to the amount of their earnings, which they then placed in a drawing for various prizes such as UAM gear, umbrellas, and phone chargers.

Travis Nicholson, UAM instructor of English, states, “I had a lot of fun. Everyone else seemed to have a lot of fun. I appreciate the Student Government Association putting it all together, and I hope to see more events like it on campus.”

Nicholson expresses his delight at student involvement at activities on campus. Meanwhile, SGA Parliamentarian Payton Miller believes the night served as not only a fun evening for UAM students, but also a great social networking opportunities for various groups to beneficially collide.

Miller, a senior Natural Science major at UAM, said, “The poker night was a great success! It really got students to interact with other students who they may not really know that well, and they learned new skills, and everyone had a lot of fun!”
