Weevils Baseball Hopes To End Cancellation Streak

MONTICELLO – The University of Arkansas-Monticello’s baseball team hopes that the weather will cooperate this weekend in an effort to end a four-game cancellation streak during what was originally an 11-game home stand for the Weevils.

UAM hosts Northwestern Oklahoma State this weekend at Weevils Field for the team’s second Great American Conference series of the season. Weather permitting, the schedule includes a single nine-inning game Friday, February 27 at 2 p.m. and a double-header Saturday starting at noon.

The Weevils had to cancel its last four scheduled games, including a three-game series against St. Cloud State this past weekend and a midweek game against Union that was originally scheduled for February 17. The last action for UAM was its three-game GAC opener against Southern Nazarene on February 13-14, which was won two games to one by SNU.

UAM enters the weekend at 4-4 overall and 1-2 in GAC games.

NWOSU comes to Monticello on a five-game losing streak with a 6-7 overall record and a 1-5 mark in GAC games. The Rangers went 1-2 against Southeastern Oklahoma State at home two weekends ago before being swept at East Central this past weekend.
