Blossoms Travel To Southeastern Oklahoma

MONTICELLO – The University of Arkansas-Monticello’s women’s basketball looks for its first win of the 2015 calendar year this Thursday on the road against Southeastern Oklahoma State.

tv Sports reflection 10dbThe Blossoms enter the game with a 5-6 overall record and an even 3-3 mark in Great American Conference games following its most recent outing, a 71-60 loss on the road this past Saturday to Arkansas Tech. The Savage Storm is 11-2 overall and 4-1 in GAC games following an 81-78 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday at home.

UAM currently ranks eighth in the conference in scoring at 63.5 points per game and fifth in points allowed at 63.1 per outing. The Blossoms rank fourth in field goal percentage (.394), third in three-point percentage (.381), second in blocked shots (5.2 per game) and third in steals (9.2 per game).

Southeastern comes into Thursday’s game ranked third in the league in scoring at 74.5 points per game and fourth in points allowed at 60.8 per contest. The Savage Storm has posted the league’s third highest field goal percentage so far this season at .425, while leading the league in field goal percentage defense. Southeastern has limited its opposition to a 35 percent average this year. The Savage Storm relies heavily on three-pointers with 129 made on 328 attempts. That is 41 more made three-pointers than the second-ranked team in that category.

Individually for UAM, junior Jordan Goforth leads the team and ranks third in the GAC with an average of 19.9 points per game and a total of 199 points so far this season. She currently sits 16 points shy of becoming the 18th member of UAM’s 1,000 point club. Junior Nikki Mullen follows at 11.9 points per game.

For Southeastern, Emily Williams leads the team and ranks fourth in the GAC at 18.5 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. Olivia Potter is next at 10.7 points per contest.
