Smith, Karlsson Lead UAM Men’s Golf At Commercial Bank Classic

CABOT– Junior Hunter Smith tied for fourth and junior Theodor Karlsson tied for ninth to lead the University of Arkansas-Monticello men’s golf team to a fifth place finish out of seven teams at the Commercial Bank Fall Classic played at Greystone Country Club.

tv Sports reflection 10dbSmith turned in scores of 77 and 73 to finish with a two-round total of 150, just two strokes off the leaders from Centenary College, Jamie Gibson and Hank Strickler, who each turned in scores of 74 in both rounds, respectively.

Karlsson finished with scores of 76 and 78 to finish four strokes behind Smith. Sophomore Bryan Witmer tied for 24th with scores of 85 and 81, junior Ari Magnusson finished 32nd at 88 and 82, and sophomore Nathan Oakes finished 40th at 86 and 89.

As a team, UAM carded a two-round total of 638, three strokes behind fourth place finisher Murray State. In addition to having the top two individual finishers, Centenary also finished as the top overall team at 611, followed by Southern Arkansas at 615 and Christian Brothers at 629. Loyola-New Orleans finished sixth at 670 and Ouachita Baptist finished seventh at 675.

There were a total of 45 individual participants in the event.
