UAM Volleyball Falls To UAPB In Five Sets

PINE BLUFF – The University of Arkansas-Monticello’s volleyball team fell to Arkansas-Pine Bluff on the road in five sets Thursday night by final game scores of 21-25, 18-25, 25-20, 25-23 and 5-15.

The Blossoms fall to 9-11 overall, while UAPB improves to 5-15. UAM is now set to begin a five-match home stand starting next Tuesday, October 21 in a tri-match with Henderson State and Mississippi College.

tv Sports reflection 10dbIn Thursday’s loss to UAPB, the Blossoms rallied down two sets to none to force a fifth set with back-to-back wins in the third and fourth sets. However, the Lions answered in the fifth with 11 kills and zero errors on just 16 swings for the dominant match-deciding win.

As a team, UAM hit .120 with 44 kills and 24 errors on 166 attacks. UAPB hit .167 with 59 kills and 29 errors on 180 swings.

Senior Tasha Evans and freshman Aspen Luna led the Blossoms with eight kills each. Luna also added 16 digs to her final totals. Junior Lani Kaiwi posted a match-high 23 digs in the loss.

UAPB’s Kayla Dowdell led all players with 15 kills. Ayanna Parker had 12.
