MONTICELLO— The Center for Writing and Communication at the University of Arkansas at Monticello will observe the National Day on Writing, a creation of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), with a day of games, exercises, crafts and performances on October 20 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

tv_buzzworthy 10dbThe National Day on Writing was created by the NCTE to draw attention to the “remarkable variety of writing we engage in, and to help writers from all walks of life recognize how important writing is to their lives,” according to the NCTE’s website.

The UAM Center for Writing and Communication is located on the first floor of the Memorial Classroom Building. According to Dr. Julie Platt, center director, the day’s events will include “giant poetry Mad Libs, literary charades, a digital Exquisite Corpse (a creative writing exercise station), a lunchtime poetry slam, and the chance to make custom artwork to be displayed in the center.”

For more information, contact Platt at (870) 460-1489.
