Women’s Golf Wins Buc Classic

SOUTHAVEN, Mississippi – The University of Arkansas-Monticello’s women’s golf team won its first ever tournament by earning the top four individual spots at The Buccaneer Classic hosted by Christian Brothers University this past Monday and Tuesday.

tv Sports reflection 10dbUAM’s top four finished one stroke ahead of the other and the team shot a commanding 308 in the second round to win the event by 21 strokes ahead of Tennessee Wesleyan.

Sophomore Lauren Johnson was the classic’s top individual finisher with scores of 79 and 78. Freshman Frida Rydberg followed in second with scores of 81 and 77, freshman Brianna Dickerson finished third at 84 and 75 and sophomore Sammy Rodriguez tied for fourth at 82 and 78. Junior Pamela Quiatchon rounded out UAM’s participants in tie for 11th place after shooting 83 in both rounds.

There were a total of 34 participants in the event. UAM’s top two-round score of 633 bested Tennesee Wesleyan at 654, Faulkner University at 680, Lyon College at 732 and host Christian Brothers at 826.
