Men’s Golf Finishes Third At Buc Classic

SOUTHAVEN, Mississippi – The University of Arkansas-Monticello’s men’s golf team finished in third place out of nine teams at The Buccaneer Classic hosted by Christian Brothers University this past Monday and Tuesday.

tv Sports reflection 10dbJunior Hunter Smith led the Weevils in second place individually with scores of 72, 69 and 69 for a three-round total of 210, just five strokes behind top individual finisher Mitchell Bennett of Christian Brothers.

Junior Ari Magnusson finished ninth at 217 overall, junior Theodor Karlssontied for 17th at 223, sophomore Bryan Witmer tied for 19th at 224 and sophomore Nathan Oakes tied for 21st at 225.

Overall, UAM shot 869 for a third place finish behind host Christian Brothers in first at 860 and Drury in second at 864. Faulkner University followed UAM in fourth at 875 and Southern Indiana rounded out the top five at 881.There were a total of nine teams at the event and 57 participants.

The Weevils posted a school-record team score of 284 in the third and finalround on Tuesday.
