Evans Named GAC Defensive Player Of The Week

RUSSELLVILLE– University of Arkansas-Monticello’s senior Tasha Evans has been named the Great American Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts during a 3-2 week for the Blossoms.

Evans averaged 1.37 blocks per set in UAM’s busy week, which included wins over Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Oklahoma Panhandle State and Southwestern Oklahoma State, and losses to Northwestern Oklahoma State and Cameron.tv Sports reflection 10db

The Almont, Michigan native totaled 26 blocks throughout the week, seven against UAPB, three against Oklahoma Panhandle, one against NWOSU, seven against SWOSU and a career-high eight against Cameron.

In addition to her defensive numbers, Evans also registered double-digit kills in three matches throughout the week and had a total of 44 kills for an average of 2.32 per set.

Evans ranks second in the league in total blocks (57) and is tied for second in blocks per set (1.14).
