MONTICELLO — After four straight winning seasons, University of Arkansas-Monticello’s men’s basketball coach Allen Sharpe has resigned to take a similar position at the University of West Sports reflection 10db

Throughout his four years at UAM, Sharpe posted a 70-42 overall record with the Weevils, including the team’s best finish during that tenure of 21-9 during the 2011-12 season. In the past three years since UAM joined the Great American Conference, Sharpe has led the program to three straight top three finishes in the league.

Sharpe, the 14th head coach in the 69-year history of the program, leaves UAM ranked fifth all-time in wins, two spots behind his father, Gary, who posted 102 wins as head coach for the Weevils from 1985-1991.

The search for a replacement will begin immediately and will continue until the position has been filled.
