Agredano, Garlington Earn All-Region Honors

MONTICELLO — University of Arkansas-Monticello senior second baseman Ben Agredano and senior starting pitcher Kade Garlington were named second team all-region selections on Thursday in advance of the NCAA Division II Central Region Championship Sports reflection 10db

Both earned a spot on the Daktronics Baseball All-Central Region Second Team. Agredano also earned a spot on the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-Region Second Team.

With his three hits in Thursday’s NCAA regional tournament opening round loss to Southern Arkansas, Agredano tied UAM’s single-season record for hits. He tied Jamie Tucker’s 1999 record of 80 hits. The Anaheim, California native leads the Great American Conference in hits this season and currently holds a .385 batting average heading into Friday’s NCAA elimination game against Augustana.

Agredano has totaled his 80 hits in 208 at bats this season, including a team-high 15 doubles, four homeruns and another team high with 48 runs batted in during 52 games so far during the 2014 campaign.

Garlington is set to make 15th start of the 2014 season in Friday’s NCAA regionals game against Augustana. The Shreveport, Louisiana native has posted a 9-2 record this season in just over 81 innings on the mound with a 3.09 earned run average. He has registered two complete games so far this season and has combined on one shutout.

Agredano and Garlington were both named to the 2014 All-Great American Conference First Team.
