Weevils Hold No. 3 Spot In Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Following its runner-up finish at the 2014 Great American Conference Championship Tournament, the University of Arkansas-Monticello’s baseball team held on to the No. 3 spot in the latest NCAA Division II Regional Rankings,tv Sports reflection 10db announced Wednesday at NCAA.com.

Wednesday’s rankings were the final release for the regular season before the selection show airs this Sunday night at 9 p.m. central time at NCAA.com. Southern Arkansas claimed the GAC’s automatic bid into the regional tournament by defeating UAM in the conference tournament title game on Tuesday. The Weevils need an at large selection to earn the program’s first bid into an NCAA regional tournament.

Minnesota State-Mankato jumped to the top spot in the regional poll this week, followed by Arkansas Tech at No. 2, UAM at No. 3, Southern Arkansas at No. 4, Emporia State at No. 5, Augustana at No. 6, St. Cloud State at No. 7 and Central Missouri at No. 8.

The regional tournament, featuring the top six squads usually hosted by the No. 1 seed, is set for May 15-18.
