As Deltic’s CFO, Mann oversees the fiscal operation of a far-flung enterprise that includes nearly a half million acres of forest land as well as extensive real estate and manufacturing interests.

“Ken Mann represents all the best qualities of this institution,” said UAM Chancellor Jack Lassiter. “He came from humble beginnings but through hard work and determination, has built atremendously successful career. I can think of no one who better exemplifies what this university stands for.”

Mann has been associated with Deltic since 1991 when he joined what was then Deltic Farm and Timber as a staff accountant. When Deltic Farm and Timber spun off from Murphy Oil in 1997 to become a stand-alone company, Mann was named assistant controller of the newly named Deltic Timber Corporation.

Mann was promoted to controller in 2004 and became the company’s chief financial officer in 2007. Mann is also vice president of administration and finance, supervising Deltic’s human resources, treasury, tax, computer systems and purchasing offices.

Mann began his career as an accountant with Murphy Oil Company where he specialized in financial accounting and internal auditing. A native of Hermitage, Mann earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting in 1981 and an MBA with accounting emphasis from Louisiana Tech.

The Mann family is well represented on the UAM alumni rolls. In addition to Kenneth, his mother, Bonnie, sisters Gail Wright and Rhena Burks, daughter Jennifer Hargis, and son-in-law Robert Hargis, all earned degrees from UAM.
