Smith, Ouiatchon Named All-GAC Honorable Mention

RUSSELLVILLE – University of Arkansas-Monticello’s sophomore golfers Hunter Smith and Pamela Quiatchon have earnedtv Sports reflection 10db a spot on the All-Great American Conference Honorable Mention team, announced Thursday by the league office.

Smith participated in 23 rounds of golf for the UAM men during the 2013-14 season. The Little Elm, Texas native carded a season average of just under 77 per round. He turned in nine rounds at 75 or below, including his season best of 72 in the first round of the Christian Brothers Spring Invitational. He finished that tournament in a tie for fourth place after carding a 75 in the second round.

Smith had four top 20 finishes throughout the season in a total of 10 events. He came in second at the Arkansas Challenge Cup in a dual with Southern Arkansas, finished 14th at the UAFS Lions Classic in March and posted a 16th place finish in the season-opening GAC Preview Tournament in September.

Quiatchon repeats as All-GAC Honorable Mention after becoming the first women’s golfer ever to earn all-conference honors last season. The Oxnard, Calif. native finished the 2013-14 season with an average score of 84 per round, including her season best of 78 in the second round of the Henderson State Lady Reddie Invitational in late September. She also broke 80 in the opening round of this past week’s GAC Championship Tournament.

Out of 10 total events and 17 rounds played, Quiatchon turned in seven top 15 finishes, including back-to-back sixth place spots to open the season at the SAU Lady Mulerider Classic and the Lady Reddie Invitational. She had a pair of dual victories over Ouachita Baptist and Southern Arkansas, and finished 11th at the Christian Brothers Spring Invitational in March.
