McKnight Named GAC Co-Pitcher Of The Week

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas-Monticello’s sophomore Zach McKnight has been named the Great American tv Sports reflection 10dbConference Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week after striking out nine batters in a 13-1 win over Southern Nazarene this past Friday.

McKnight, mainly used as a midweek starter and weekend reliever, earned thestarting nod in UAM’s GAC series opener against Southern Nazarene on Friday. The Bentonville, Ark. native proceeded to strike out nine of the 25 batters he faced while only giving up one unearned run off three hits with no walks in a complete-game victory over the Crimson Storm.

It was McKnight’s first career complete game and also set a new career-high in strikeouts.

Overall this season, McKnight holds a 4-2 record with a 2.58 earned run average. He has been in on one shutout and also has a save in just over 52 innings on the mound.

McKnight shared this week’s conference honor with Northwestern Oklahoma State’s Eddie Cumpston, who threw a seven-inning no-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a win over Hillsdale Baptist last Tuesday.
