polarplungeMONTICELLO – The 5th Annual Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Arkansas fundraiser will take place at Weevil Pond on Saturday, Feb. 15. Registration starts at 10:30 a.m., awards at 11 a.m. and the plunge will take place at noon. Everyone is invited to participate or just come out to support the plungers.

Also taking place beginning at 10:30 a.m. will be a dessert auction where you can bid on different goodies and a $5 all you can eat bowl of chili/soup lunch. Desserts and chili/soup are still needed if anyone want to showcase their cooking skills.

A minimum of $50 per person is required to be able to plunge (if you want to just raise money, but not plunge that will be ok too). Awards will be given to all participants based on the amount of money each person raises. Trophies/plaques will also be presented to the individual and team who raise the most money. There will also be a costume contest with awards given to the individual and team with best costumes.

There is a new division exclusively for University of Arkansas-Monticello teams/individuals. Best costume and most money raised awards will be given to the team/s from UAM who wins each category. Last year, Alpha Sigma Alpha won for most money raised and best costume went to the Squire Club.

For more information on this event or on how to plunge, contact Ked Donham at 870-224-6600 or by email at donham@uamont.edu.
