Blossoms Drop A Game On The Road, 82-68

ARKADELPHIA– Ouachita Baptist had 21 offensive rebounds and 21 second chance points leading to an 82-68 win over the University of tv Sports reflection 10dbArkansas-Monticello’s women’s basketball team Tuesday night inside Bill Vining Arena.

   Overall, Ouachita (4-11, 2-7 Great American Conference) out rebounded UAM (5-10, 1-8 GAC) 47-30 and outscored the Blossoms 43-34 in the second half after leading by five at halftime.

   The first half featured 13 lead changes, the majority coming in the first 12 minutes. Ouachita led by as much as five points during that period, while UAM led by as much as three points.

   UAM erased a five-point deficit at the 9:41 mark of the opening half and turned it into a three-point lead two minutes later on a pair of free throws from sophomore Tamia Grady.

   The Lady Tigers hit three straight three-pointers in the final four minutes of the first half in the midst of a 10-0 scoring run to take a nine-point lead of 37-28 at the 1:46 mark. That was the largest lead of the first half for either team.

   OBU took that late first half momentum into the second half, where it gained a double digit lead at the 13:29 mark and used a 10-0 scoring run starting atminute later to get on top 67-51 with just under nine minutes remaining in regulation.

   UAM finished the game shooting 39 percent from the field (20-for-52), 40 percent on three-pointers (4-for-10) and 80 percent on foul shots (24-for-30). Ouachita shot 39 percent from the field (27-for-69), 32 percent on three-pointers (6-for-19) and 85 percent on foul shots (22-for-26).

   Sophomores Jordan Goforth and Tamia Grady each had a game-high 22 points. Goforth was 8-for-12 from the field, while Grady aided her point total with a 14-for-16 performance at the foul line. It was Grady’s seventh game of the season with at least 20 points and Goforth’s sixth.

   Elise Holman led Ouachita with 16 points. Nashia James added 15.

   The Blossoms are back in action Thursday night on the road against Southern Arkansas. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at the W.T. Watson Athletic Center in Magnolia.
