UAM Basketball Insiders – Jan. 15

MONTICELLO – The University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s and women’s basketball teams are set to begin a stretch of five Great American Conference playing dates over the next 10 days this Thursday on the road against Arkansas Tech.

   This week’s action includes Thursday night’s trip to Russellville to face Arkansas Tech and home games against Harding on Saturday. Thursday night’s games begin at 5:30 p.m. with the men’s game to follow at approximately 7:30 p.m. Saturday’s games at Steelman Field House are slated for a 2 p.m. start.

   All games will be covered on the UAM Sports Network at KHBM-FM 93.7 in Monticello and online at Arkansas Tech will provide live stats and live streaming video of Thursday night’s game, and the same will be available for Saturday’s games against Harding.    The Cotton Blossoms enter the week’s action with a 5-7 overall record and a 1-5 mark in GAC games following a 72-61 loss to Southern Nazarene last Thursday on the road. The Golden Suns, the defending conference champion, are 6-6 overall and 2-4 in GAC games following an 83-65 loss to Henderson State this past Saturday in Arkadelphia. Saturday’s opponent, Harding, puts its undefeated record of 15-0 and No. 6 national ranking on the line this Thursday night at home against Southern Arkansas.

   The Boll Weevils are back to their winning ways after a slip up at Southern Nazarene last Thursday that snap a eight-game winning streak. UAM defeated Ecclesia College this past Saturday at home in the final non-conference game of the season by a final score of 92-66 to give the squad an 11-3 overall record heading into this week. UAM is 4-2 in GAC games. Arkansas Tech is 9-5 overall and 4-2 in GAC games. Harding, is 7-6 overall and 4-3 in the league headinginto its Thursday night home game against Southern Arkansas.
