UAM Hosts First Student Research and Scholarship Forum

MONTICELLO— Students from various academic disciplines presented original research posters at a Student Research and Scholarship Forum hosted recently by the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

   The forum was sponsored by the UAM Research Program for Minority Students and featured posters outlining research projects completed by students, some as part of off-campus summer internships. Approximately 60 students, faculty, family and friends attended the event in the Taylor Library and Technology Center.

   Students presenting original research included Chris Gillison, a chemistry and mathematics major from Lake Village; Austin Beatty, a biochemistry major from Dermott; Esgar Jiminez, a biology and biochemistry major from Montrose; Darren White, a pre-medicine major from Gould; Ryan Reyes, a biology, biochemistry and pre-medicine major from New Waverly, Tex.; Kiara Newhouse, a biology and pre-medicine major from McGehee; Taylor Snider, a chemistry major from Monticello; Nicholas Jones, a biology major from Pine Bluff; John Stewart Matthews, a computer information systems major from Lake Village; and Kathy Brautigam, a forest resources graduate student from Monticello.
