tv_buzzworthy 10dbMONTICELLO-The University of Arkansas at Monticello will be having it’s annual opera production. This production has contributed to the University of Arkansas for about 24 years or more and is considered to be a class where participants can earn up to two hours of credit, with grades based on participation. All participants must first audition.

Kent Skinner, coordinator of the production for the last 24 years, says that rehearsal is three times a week: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 2:10 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Skinner also stated that the Music Theatre Workshop presents a musical every spring; however, there will not be a production this spring.

The fall opera will be Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2 in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Admission will be free and everyone is welcomed to come out and show support to the actors and actresses. Past shows presented by the Music Theatre Workshop included “Oklahoma!,” “Sweeney Todd,” and “Fiddler on the Roof.”

Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2, “The Jumping Frog of Calaveras County” by Lukas Foss and “Cosi Fan Tutte” by W. A. Mozart  will be performed. The Jumping Frog is based on the well-known tale, “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County”, by Mark Twain. The casts include Dylan Miles, Hayley Coughlin, Carrie Ann Savage, Jennifer Carr, Jonathan Cruz, Kaitlin Spencer, Robert Webb, David Wilson, Mark Sullivan, Jake Wishard, Vincent Flieder, Makayla Burris, Bonnie Tiggert and Amanda Wood.
