Women’s Golf Finishes 6th At GAC Preview

tv Sports reflection 10dbOKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Freshmen Lauren Johnson and Sammy Rodriguez finished just one stroke apart to lead the University of Arkansas at Monticello women’s golf team to a sixth place finish at the Great American Conference Preview Tournament held this past Monday and Tuesday at the Lake Hefner Golf Club.

   Johnson had scores of 80 and 84 for a two-round total of 164, giving her a tie for 18th place out of 37 participants. Rodriguez improved five strokes from the first round with an 80 in the second round for a two-round total of 165 and a tie for 22nd place.

   Sophomore Pamela Quiatchon finished in a tie for 26th with a two-day total of 172, sophomore Linda Williams finished 31st at 178 and sophomore Rachel Bedenbaugh finished 37th at 221.

   As a team, UAM turned in a two-round total of 679, 71 strokes ahead of seventh place finisher Northwestern Oklahoma State. Southwestern Oklahoma State won the team crown with a two-round score of 619, followed by host Southern Nazarene at 627. Southern Nazarene’s Michaela Osborne won the individual title in a playoff hole after tying Harding’s Emily Plyler with two-round scores of 150 each.

   The Blossoms return to the links this Sunday, Oct. 20 through Tuesday, hosting the Deltic Timber/Commercial Bank Fall Classic at The Greens at North Hills in Sherwood.
