Campus-Wide Free Laundry

MONTICELLO—Laundry facilities now free to all on-campus students.

In the past, students paid for the use of laundry facilities. The washers and dryers located in the dorms, suites and apartments have needed quarters in order to work. As of Fall 2013 the laundry facilities are now free to on-campus students.

“With significant amount of change that occurred over the summer (remodel of Bankston, Royer becoming a men’s hall and Horsfall getting some work done) the time was right,” said Dean Scott Kuttenkuler.

Many students assume fees went up because of the free laundry.

When asked if this was the case Kuttenkuler stated, “All expenses associated with the residence halls, except in family housing, are included in a single fee.  The laundry cost was absorbed in that fee.  Even with the increase, UAM’s housing rates are still the lowest or one of the lowest (depending on which building you live in) as compared to any other university in the state.  Not to mention living on-campus can save the student thousands as compared to living in an off campus apartment. ”

All of the dorms on campus have free laundry facilities and are only open to students currently living on campus.
