Florida Tech Gets Past UAM In Four Sets

tv Sports reflection 10dbPENSACOLA, Fla. – Junior Tori Bozzo led the University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team with 10 kills in a 3-1 loss to Florida Tech on Saturday morning in the West Florida Opening Weekend Tournament. Final gamescores were 18-25, 25-23, 17-25 and 19-25.

   Bozzo collected 10 kills, her second double-digit performance of the season, with six errors on 32 attempts for a .125 hitting percentage. She also added seven digs to her final numbers.

   UAM (1-2) rallied from a 20-17 deficit to win the second set 25-23 due in part to five attack errors from Florida Tech players down the stretch. The Blossoms hit .097 as a team in that set, but followed with the team’s strongest hitting performance of the match with a .152 performance in the 25-17 third-set loss.

   As a team, UAM collected 11 total blocks in the Saturday morning’s loss to Tech, led by juniors Gabriella Jandotti and Christina Rini with five block assists each. Junior Jessica Cuba added four block assists and one block solo. Senior Holly Schweigert also chipped in with three block assists.

   Senior Tusalava Kuaea paced the UAM defense with 14 digs, followed by Cuba with 10. Senior Amy Bazemore recorded her first 20-assist performance of the season with 22 assists in the loss.

   Florida Tech (2-1) was led by Charlie French’s double-double of 17 kills and 10 digs.
