tv_sports 10dbMONTICELLO — University of Arkansas at Monticello senior baseball player Taylor Eaves has been named the Great American Conference Player of the Week after leading UAM to a two games to one series victory over East Central this past weekend on the road.

Eaves started all three games at East Central this past weekend and went 7-for-12 (.583 batting average) at the plate with four runs scored, four runs batted in, three doubles and one homerun. His weekly slugging percentage was 1.083 and his on base percentage was .643 after also reaching base on a walk and a hit by pitch.

The Beaumont, Texas native went 4-for-5 in the series opener, a 12-2 win on Friday, with two doubles and two singles. He then reached base in all five plate appearances in Saturday’s first game with a double in the first, a hit by pitch in the third, a fielder’s choice in the fifth, a three-run homerun in the sixth and a walk in the eighth inning of a 10-9 loss. He was limited to one hit in four at bats in the series finale, a 5-2 victory.

He joins teammates Ben Agredano and Chris Guzman to earn conference player of the week honors this season. Agredano was the league’s player of the week on Feb. 19, while Guzman was the league’s top pitcher last week.

Eaves and the Boll Weevils are set for their second mid-week clash against the nation’s top-ranked Delta State Statesmen on the road Wednesday. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. in Cleveland, Miss.
