BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Freshman guard Jordan Goforth has been named the Great American Conference Freshman of the Year after leading the Cotton Blossoms in scoring, three‐pointers, free‐throws and total minutes played during her first collegiate season.

Goforth was named the league’s freshman of the year on Wednesday night at the GAC Championship Tournament Welcome Banquet in downtown Bartlesville, Okla.

She becomes UAM’s first freshman of the year honoree since joining the NCAA Division II in 1995.

The Plano, Texas native played in all 26 games this season, making 21 starts at guard. She led the team with a total of 658 minutes played and averaged 25.3 minutes per contest. She shot 45.6 percent from the field this season (120‐of‐263), 34.2 percent on three‐pointers (25‐of‐73) and 79.2 percent on free‐throws (57‐of‐72).

After tallying 322 total points in the regular season, Goforth leads the Blossoms into the GAC Tournament averaging 12.4 points per game. In addition to her scoring, she also ranks second on the team in rebounding (124, 4.8 avg.), while also recording 37 assists and 20 steals.

Goforth reached double‐digits in scoring in 18 of 26 games this season, while eclipsing the 20‐point barrier on three different occasions, including her career‐high of 24 points in a loss to SW Oklahoma State at home Feb. 2.

Goforth and the No. 8 seed Cotton Blossoms open the GAC Championship Tournament Thursday, March 7 against No. 1 seed and regular season champion Arkansas Tech. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. inside Bruin Field House on the campus of Bartlesville High School.
