BENTONVILLE — The University of Arkansas-Monticello softball team closed out the 7-State Classic Sunday with an 8-5 win over Concordia-tv_sports 10dbSt. Paul followed by a 4-2, eight-inning loss to No. 18 Emporia State.

Senior Beth Johnson hit two homeruns in the win over Concordia-St. Paul, while senior Randa Perry hit a two-run single late in the loss to 18th-ranked Emporia State to send the game into extra innings. After ESU scored twice in the top of the eighth, UAM had runners on second and third with only one out, but the Cotton Blossoms were unable to push any runs across to suffer the loss.

Complete game statistics will be posted at uamsports.com once they become available.

The Cotton Blossoms went 4-4 in the 7-State Classic to give the team a 10-6 overall record heading into its conference-opening series next weekend (February 22-23) at home against Southern Nazarene.
