Arts & EntertainmentMONTICELLO-The 55th Grammy awards brought many surprises in the way of award winners and performances.

One of the biggest surprises of the night was the Record of the Year award, which went to Gotye featuring Kimbra for their song “Somebody That I Used To Know.” Other artists up for the award included Fun., The Black Keys, Frank Ocean and Taylor Swift.

The big winners of the night Fun., took home awards for both Best New Artist and Song of the Year for their hit “We Are Young.”

Other winners of some of the main categories included Frank Ocean, who won Best Urban Contemporary Album for “Channel Orange,” and Mumford & Sons who surprised some by taking home the Album of the Year award with their album “Babel.”

This years Grammys also showcased some unique and interesting performances. These included a tribute to the late Bob Marley by Bruno Mars, Sting, Rihanna and Ziggy Marley, an opening act by Taylor Swift, a performance by Justin Timberlake and a collaboration by Maroon 5 and Alicia Keys.

Jack White’s performance was one of the most interesting of the whole show. White performed two songs off his Grammy-nominated album “Blunderbuss.” The songs included “Love Interruption” and “Freedom at 21.” White finished his act by slinging his guitar to the floor.

Although this year’s award ceremony had some unexpected winners, these winners were not total underdogs in their respected categories.
