MONTICELLO – A winter weather advisory has been issued for Drew County, as well as Bradley, Calhoun, Cleveland, Desha and Lincoln counties from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Light precipitation is expected to spread into southeast Arkansas and will begin as sleet and freezing rain. The precipitation will eventually transition to rain and freezing rain.

Primary impacts will likely be accumulations on trees and power lines. Icing/glazing over roadways seems less likely, however, some bridges and overpasses could potentially ice over.

In addition, an ice storm warning for freezing rain is in effect until 6 p.m. for Ashley and Chicot counties.

The University of Arkansas-Monticello’s department of public safety and university officials will continue to monitor the winter storm system, and any notice concerning the operation of each campus will be issued using UAMAlert, the UAM website and regional media outlets.

For information, you can call (870) 460-1083.
