tv_Christmas_Wish_logoMONTICELLO – The University of Arkansas at Monticello held its Choral Christmas concert Tuesday, Dec. 4, featuring a variety of traditional pieces, as well as lively Christmas carols.

Many people attended the concert from parents to music majors, as well as people just looking for a little Christmas spirit. A whole semester’s worth of preparation was finally let out for people to see, and the choir did not disappoint.

“I thought the concert was excellent,” said Paul Becker, music instructor at UAM. “We have been working on that concert since the beginning of the semester. We rehearsed Monday, Wednesday and Friday just like a regular class.”

The concert consisted of a variety of Christmas pieces setting the tone for the upcoming Christmas holiday. UAM’s Kent Skinner conducted the concert and was satisfied by the performance, but he did say the selections were quite difficult.

“It’s difficult music, and they have to work hard to learn it. They have to get themselves in shape to sing it,” Skinner said.

The choir was definitely in shape and finished off the semester on a good note. The Choral Christmas concert was the last choral event of the semester. But, if the choir picks up where it left off, the first show of the spring semester should be highly anticipated.
